The start of Spring has once again been strenuous, dry, cold with a mini heat wave over Easter plus the coldest May bank holiday on record. Fortunately all mown areas have had some regular growth, apart from the greens, and this has helped mowing being manageable without leaving behind too much debris from flying grass clippings.
This has enabled the team to keep presentation of the course as high as possible but as you know, the weather conditions do not always allow us to deliver all the time. Winter scarring on the putting surfaces has been slow to recover but the team have been out regular divoting, along with over-seeding. Now we are approaching early Summer growth, more light top-dressing can be applied, enabling the surface to become smoother.
Keep dry, keep warm!
